In order to protect the environment and resources, reduce external dependency and minimise cost fluctuations, ECKOLD AG has taken measures in recent years in the area of sustainability and invested considerable resources. For example, we installed the first PVA photovoltaic system on our production hall in 2020 and a second system on our warehouse in 2024. This means that a total area of 2,120 m² is covered with solar panels, with a maximum output of 447 kWp. We can use around 58% of the electricity produced directly ourselves, covering around 47% of our total electricity consumption. With the investment in PV 2.0, we have also installed four charging stations for electric vehicles, which can be used for company cars and the cars of our employees.
Since the 2024/2025 heating season, we have been heating our buildings with district heating from the nearby GEVAG waste incineration plant. This means we heat CO₂-free and no longer burn 26,000 litres of heating oil every year. The new heating system works to our complete satisfaction.
It goes without saying that we separate recyclable materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminium, paper, cardboard, wood and plastic film from residual waste and pass these materials on to recycling companies or clean disposal.
In contrast to most other industrial companies, we provide a pleasant green environment and make a small contribution to biodiversity with many trees and bushes on our site, some of which are decades old. And several generations of kestrels have already hatched and reared their young in the nesting facilities for birds of prey built in our roof gables.
We will continue to be mindful of the environment in the future and continue to invest in the conservation of resources and the protection of the environment, i.e. in sustainability.
